Telluride Wedding at San Sophia Overlook Wedding

I had the most ridiculous amount of fun photographing Sarah and Zach’s wedding ceremony at the San Sophia Overlook and wedding receptions at the Historic Sheridan Opera House.
Approximately every single person that I came in contact with told me it would be a bad idea to photograph a wedding less than 48 hours before my own, and BOOOOOYY am I glad that I didnt listen to them.
Getting to spend an entire day getting to follow around, laugh with and celebrate two of the most insanely hard working, giving, caring, hilarious, beautiful, just all around wonderful people all day collecting fallen aspen leaves and frolicking around my favorite mountain town was such an incredible highlight to the weekend.
I couldn’t even actually begin to tell you how many stories I had the pleasure of hearing about Sarah and Zach and their lives separately and together and how they really do make 200% of a whole person (that makes sense, dont worry).
I arrived in the late morning to the house in the town of Telluride,Colorado where Sarah and Zach were staying, just in time to grab a few getting ready and details photos and to snap a super impromptu (unplanned) first look just before heading out the door to take a gondola ride up the mountain to San Sophia Overlook at Telluride Ski Resort. The most perfect day, the most gorgeous weather, every amount of sunshine you could even imagine.
As everyone seated for the ceremony, live music played as these two perfect human beings strolled down the aisle into their ceremony, TOGETHER, hand in hand. I had never seen that before (in allll my years) and now I dont know why people dont do this everyday! Cue all the tears and applause as they made their way to the wedding deck overlooking the town of the mountain village of Telluride and surrounded by the San Juan Mountains.
Their ceremony was officiated by one of their greatest mentors, and was filled with authentic, handwritten vows. As they were pronounced husband + wife, all their guests their aspen leaves in the air as the came down the aisle. So perfect!
We listened to some incredible bluegrass music and basked in the sun during their cocktail hour before sneaking away to visit Sarah’s grandmother and to grab a pizza at the greatest ever, High Pie!
I had never been to the Sheridan Opera House before and this spot does not disappoint! Such cool history and a truly amazing space for a party! I loved every single second of listening to all their nearest and dearests heartfelt toasts and watching every bust out some serious moves on the dance floor.
These guys are the coolest, they do such important work, and live a fully adventurous life together and I feel cooler by association just being a little teeny part of their day of celebration!
