Their Sunday afternoon wedding in Breckenridge was a rainy one, everything was really lush and vibrant and although a little wet, everyone was in great sprits while setting up + getting ready. Sarah’s outfit + accessories were in my top favorites of the whole year (probably of all time honestly) from Monique L’Huillier gown, all of her incredible jewelry, the beeeest pairs of ceremony + party shoes. It was all a total vibe when it came together and we just LOVE a wedding day with multiple looks, so fun.
Jake + Sara shared their vows privately in a lush meadow before taking in their first looks. It was all tears (for all of us) and all love while basking in that moment of togetherness before diving into the big party.
Their traditional Jewish wedding ceremony began with a Tisch and Bedeken—a custom where men and women celebrate separately before the groom is marched in to see his bride. Of all the Jewish weddings I’ve photographed over the years, this was my first time getting to be present for these 2 events and I just hope it’s not my last – so many incredibly kind words about these two as individuals and some really great stories and just so much love pouring onto them before they embarked on the adventure of their ceremony, and it really was just that.
A beautiful ceremony was setup on the lawn of the Breckenridge Nordic Center with views of the peaks a Breckenridge Ski Resort and the dense foliage of the neighboring wildlife preserve. Their chuppah was made by using fallen aspen wood and beautifully decorated by their friends with colorful flowers grown and cut from their own home garden. Their chuppah was beautifully covered with Sara’s late fathers’ Tallit and their Katubah was custom hand painted.
During the traditional circling – in lieu of circling the groom 7 times, Jake + Sara opted to do a 3+3+infinity loop action together for a more egalitarian approach – I loved this so much. They included a candle lighting for those who have passed, and Sheva Brachot (seven prayers) in which they had friends/family recite individual passages. They exchanged rings, Jake broke the glass and “azel Tov” they were married and shared their first married kiss before making their way down the aisle. It was rainy and wonderful.
Sara + Jake held their reception in the “Oh Be Joyful” Lodge at the Breckenridge Nordic Center and decorated the space beautifully with DIY dried citrus, floral wreaths along the tables and strings of personal photos along the walls. Throughout the evening their parents + siblings gave incredibly heartfelt toasts, Jake’s parents even surprised us all and performed a song! The night was beyond perfect and capped perfectly with an EPIC packed dancefloor and a fun bridal outfit change!
