do you know that feeling…the one where you’re having a dream that really is just too good, you’re living your absolute best life with the best people, in the best places and doing things you could only dream of actually doing but the. you wake up, and your life isn’t at all like that dream?
this year was like waking up from that dream and realizing, “oh shit this is real life”. my real actual life last year was like something out of a dream, a full 365 days that had i previously written down some of the amazing things I’d seen and done, I never would’ve thought I’d actually see or do or feel.
2017, I feel like I blinked and it was done, I didnt get nearly enough time to savor and soak in all of the great that 2017 was.
2017 brought:
62 weddings with couples that I feel I gave away a little piece of my heart to each and every day.
I love each and every single one of you and cherish the memories I’ve created with + for you all.
48 engagement sessions. filled with more love + laughter than I could possibly add up.
53 hair + makeup for brides beautiful on the inside + out.
8 portrait sessions for families that I adore.
20 states.
7 national parks explored .
literally SPRINTING through fields of pokey stuff to catch many sunsets.
tripping and falling in front of my couples. alot. *please dont hire me for my gracefulness*
more road trips than I can count on two hands and more then 40,000 miles driven.
2017 brought more late nights on mountain roads + milky way sightings.
more slap happy laughter with fellow wedding pros after 13+ hour days
bingeing new podcasts + audiobooks + over 56,500 minutes of music on spotify.
hiring 4 incredible associates to allow Alchemy Creative to be in more than one place at a time. *Anna,Katy,Shae + Sharee thanks so much for your hand in this years incredible success*
crying during basically every father/daughter dance.
LOTS of Harry Potter marathons while editing.
I watched my baby brother walk across the stage to receive his HS diploma.
I got elevation sickness for the first (and hopefully last time in my life. 0/10-would not recommended.
I enrolled the only human I’ve created from scratch into her first year of school, didn’t even lose my shit.
I also said yes to the biggest and most important question that I’ve ever been asked. the best yes, the kind that sets you on a whole new adventure with what feels like brand new eyes.
being engaged and planning my own wedding has brought a whole new level of understanding and clarity and compassion for the couples I work with, taking even more care and working even harder to create + document memories they will treasure forever.
here’s to my best, busiest most joyfilled year yet, personally and professionally.
even after allllll the beautiful things 2017 was for me and my little company, bigger and better things are coming for me in 2018, can’t wait to experience every single second of it!
aside from making beautiful images for my couples and really nailing some awesome business goals for this year, my focus and what I’m most excited for is time with the people who arent paying me to hang out with them. really being present in my own personal life with the people who love me *not just the work i create*. creating time for my friends and my sweet family, and also spending more time just with myself, trying to be the best version of me in every way possible.
